BRIDGEWATER (CBS) – A Bridgewater State University student who said she was attacked by a man who put a bag over her head and tried to take off her clothes Friday has recanted her story.
The school sent an alert to students saying the man was wearing a ski mask when he went after the young woman on Summer Street near campus.
But by Friday afternoon, the student told Bridgewater Police the incident did not happen.
“We do not believe there is a continuing threat to the community,” Bridgewater Police Chief Christopher Delmonte said. “We have notified Bridgewater State University Police and they working with the reporting party in this case.”
