Tom Brady's Thumb Injury Is Not Considered Serious

By Matt Dolloff, CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- New England needed this. It needed to know their team's Hall-of-Fame quarterback was OK. Who doesn't need that kind of reassurance?

Tom Brady got removed from an expected start in Thursday night's preseason game against the Bears, then it was reported that he sliced his thumb with a pair of scissors, and then all hell broke loose - in social media terms, anyway.

To the rescue comes Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, who reported Friday that Brady is "just fine" and a source told him Brady will "be OK in time." Brady apparently didn't have either of his hands wrapped in bandages when he left Gillette Stadium Thursday night, which a source told Howe "speaks to the lack of concern over the wound."

Good news all around, because surely there were plenty of pessimists out there who pictured something out of Dan Aykroyd's Julia Child sketch from Saturday Night Live ...

Howe couldn't help but take one last jab at this, though.
