Ruby Tuesday Closing 95 Restaurants Nationwide

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (CBS) – Ruby Tuesday announced Friday that it will be closing about 95 "underperforming" restaurants across the country.

Those locations will shut their doors by the end of September, the Tennessee-based company said in a statement.

Ruby Tuesday currently has 724 restaurants, but sales and revenue are declining. The list of locations that will close has not yet been released.

"The decision to close restaurants is a difficult but necessary step as we take aggressive actions to strengthen our organization," Ruby Tuesday's stated. "Performance at each of these locations, despite the loyalty of valued guests and the efforts of our dedicated employees, was not meeting expectations."

Massachusetts has Ruby Tuesday restaurants in Westboro, Wrentham and Worcester, and New Hampshire has a Ruby Tuesday in Nashua.

The company said it will try to offer employees at the shuttered locations jobs at nearby restaurants.
