Man With Knife Chases Boy After Attempted Break-In

ROCKLAND (CBS) – A 13-year-old boy was home alone in Rockland when he says a man with a knife tried to break in.

Brody Davis came out the front door of his home Thursday, walked around and saw the man trying to get in through a side door.

"He had a huge knife in his left pocket, he was wearing camo shorts, long sleeve black leather jacket, was bald and had a red beard," Brody said.

Even with woods in back of the house, the suspect didn't go there. He came after Brody.

"I honestly thought I was going to die," Brody said. "I was scared, I thought he was going to come and kill me, but luckily I got away and got to my friend's house."

Brody was able to give police the very detailed description.

"I'm very proud, he took a quick mental picture and then did the right thing and took off the other way," Brody's father Bill Davis said. "He gave an awesome description."

About that detailed description of the suspect, it impressed the police. "We tell people all the time, whenever we have incidents involving crime and there's potential for danger, the best thing you can do is be a good witness and that's exactly what this young man did," Rockland Police Lt. Nick Zeoli said.
