Mashpee Police Visit Girl In Recovery After Being Struck By Car

BOSTON (CBS) -- A couple members of the Mashpee Police Department stopped by Spaulding Rehabilitation Center in Boston to visit a young girl recovering from injuries after she was hit by a car.

7-year-old Gabbie Mahoney was was attempting to cross Route 130 on her bicycle in Mashpee on July 20 when she was struck.

She was flown by medical helicopter to Mass. General Hospital at the time with life-threatening injuries. Officers with the Mashpee Police Department were among those who came to her rescue. Photos posted by the department on Facebook show her smiling while in recovery.

"Gabbie is feeling better but is homesick and can't wait to come home, which we all hope is very soon," the department posted on Facebook.
