Teen Found Shot In The Back On Basketball Court In Manchester, NH

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) -- Police are investigating after a 16-year-old boy was found shot in the back on a basketball court in Manchester, New Hampshire.

According to police, 16-year-old boy and another teen, identified as 18-year-old Michael Cartagena of Manchester, were playing basketball at the courts at Beech and Green Street Saturday evening. The pair reportedly went to a convenience store to grab drinks. When they returned, they heard multiple gunshots and began running.  The 16-year-old was shot in the back. He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Police also responded to reports of another gunshot victim outside a different convenience store on Hanover Street. Police say 59-year-old Elaine Dugas of Manchester heard multiple gunshots while she was sitting outside Down The Block Convenience. A bullet hit the top of her foot. She was treated for her injury and released from the hospital.

Witnesses saw a man carrying a handgun running east on Auburn and Union Streets after the gunshots rang out in the area. He was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5'5" in height, with short hair. He was last seen wearing a white tank top and light blue jeans.
