Officer Stabbed In Face While Responding To Domestic Assault In Worcester

WORCESTER (AP) — A police officer was stabbed in the face while responding to a domestic assault.

Officers responded to a Worcester apartment around 4 a.m. Sunday where a 23-year-old woman told them her ex-boyfriend, a 30-year-old Worcester man, was threatening her and her family over the phone. She said she had a restraining order against him.

The ex-boyfriend then showed up while officers were on the scene. Police attempted to arrest him but a struggle ensued. Police say the man used a steak knife to stab one of the officers in the face.

The officer was taken to a local hospital, where he received stitches.

The man is facing multiple charges, including assault and battery on a police officer.

Police haven't released his identity due to state domestic violence laws.
