Bruins To Host Devils On October 20 In 2016-17 Home Opener

BOSTON (CBS) -- The full schedule for the 2016-17 NHL season won't be released until Tuesday, but Bruins fans got a little appetizer on Monday.

Get out your calendars, because we know when the Bruins' home opener will take place. The B's will open the TD Garden on Thursday, October 20 against the New Jersey Devils.

This is just the second time in team history Boston will host New Jersey in their home opener, with the first time coming back in 2003. That game resulted in a 3-3 tie, with Rhode Island native Jeff Jillson scoring a pair of goals in his Bruins debut while Felix Potvin made 32 saves in net for Boston.

The Bruins are 38-37-16 all-time in their home openers.

The full 2016-17 NHL schedule will be released at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21.

Tune in to every game of the 2016-17 Bruins season on 98.5 The Sports Hub -- the flagship station of the Boston Bruins!
