BOSTON (CBS) – Police have identified the 19-year-old woman who construction workers found dead in an East Boston garage.
Blanca Lainez’s body was discovered inside a garage that was being used to store construction equipment at a Princeton Street home undergoing renovations.
People left candles and flowers at a growing memorial near where her body was found.
Boston Police said Lainez suffered “from undetermined traumatic injuries.”
A roommate, who declined to be identified, told WBZ-TV’s Jim Smith she lived with Lainez in Chelsea. She says Lainez was from El Salvador, adding that her five brothers and sister may also live in the U.S.
Neighbors are rattled after learning the news.
“I’m pretty nervous. I walk up and down the street all the time,” says neighbor Tammy Molino, adding that her mother also lives in the area and is shaken up by what happened.
Fellow resident Carol Gaeta says the incident is “very nerve-wracking.”
No arrests have been made in Lainez’s death. Investigators are trying to get surveillance video from the area.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Boston Police Department at (617) 343-4470.
