Auction Ending For Jim Craig's 'Miracle On Ice' Memorabilia Collection

BOSTON (CBS) – If you want to own a piece of a "miracle" you'd better act by tonight.

Bidding for an online auction featuring iconic items from the United States men's hockey team's win over the Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympics ends Friday at 9 p.m.

Items are being sold by Easton native Jim Craig, goalie for the team whose gold medal run became affectionately known as the "Miracle on Ice."

Craig's gold medal, game-used skates, a Team USA jersey and more are up for auction.

Josh Evans, founder of Lelands auctions, said Craig decided to sell the treasured memorabilia for a variety of reasons.

"It became a situation where the stuff's in Jim's closet. He wants to do what's right for his family and his family's family," Evans told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens.

As of Friday morning, Craig's gold medal has the highest price at nearly $260,000. His jersey has surpassed $214,000 while the flag he draped over his shoulders after the win is approaching $200,000.
