Mookie Betts Responded To The Orioles' Headhunting In The Best Way Possible [VIDEO]

By Matt Dolloff, CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- One of baseball's vaunted "unwritten rules" is that if a hitter is locked in and looks too comfortable at the plate, it's up to the other team to make him uncomfortable. Sometimes, the only way to do it is to brush him back, knock him off the plate. Don't make him think every pitch is just going to be grooved to him.

The Baltimore Orioles tried to knock Mookie Betts off his game by throwing up around his head area Wednesday night. Betts had hit four home runs in his last six at-bats, including three Tuesday night, and Mike Wright's obvious attempt at a brush-back drew warnings for both teams.

Betts responded just three pitches later with yet another home run, and that got pretty much everyone in the Red Sox organization - even NESN announcers Dave O'Brien and Jerry Remy - all kinds of fired up.

There are few things as sweet as sports justice.

Betts must have been jealous of all the attention that teammates Xander Bogaerts, David Ortiz, and Jackie Bradley Jr. have been getting lately because he's looked more like Barry Bonds in the past two days. Will the Orioles dare to try the ol' headhunting trick on Betts again Thursday night?
