Speed, Alcohol Possible Factors In Fatal Acton Crash, Police Say

ACTON (CBS) – Police say speed and alcohol may have been involved in a fatal crash in Acton early Tuesday morning.

A 2008 Saturn ran off Central Street, hit a wall and a utility pole before ending up against a car in a driveway around 12:30 a.m.

"We heard a really big bang," resident Kayla Dee told WBZ-TV. "A fire was starting to spark and we think it's a car, and so we open the windows and all we hear is, 'call 911, call 911,'"

A passenger in the car, 39-year-old Shannon Milhomme-Hoepers, of Acton, was rushed to Emerson Hospital where she died. Police say her husband, 35-year-old Deeiyvid Hoepers was driving and suffered serious injuries.

"As long as I've been [living] here, this is worst I've seen," Dee said. "They must have been going 100 mph because we have people come down this road in the wintertime with ice and they'll hit the pole, but they won't knock it down like that."

Deeiyvid Hoepers was taken to Boston Medical Center on a medical rescue helicopter.  He is in stable condition, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.
