Zolak & Bertrand Concerned About Edelman's Foot Surgery

BOSTON (CBS) -- Julian Edelman reportedly underwent a second surgery on his left foot this offseason, and while the report says he should be good to go when training camp rolls around, the procedure has Zolak & Bertrand worried.

Edelman broke his foot in the middle of last season, an injury that cost him the final seven games of the regular season. He returned in time for the playoffs, but another surgery has Scott Zolak concerned the injury may linger for some time.

"That tells me there is something shaky inside the foot. That screams red flag to me," said Zolak. "The fact the surgery has been delayed, he's pretty much going to miss OTAs, any mini camps and probably the beginning of training camp – because he's not going to come back and be full throttle."

That means Edelman will miss out on three months of his extensive offseason workout program, which Zolak says "means everything to that guy." He's concerned this might take away some of Edelman's quickness, and also thinks it's time for the Patriots to pass his punt returning duties onto someone else.

Beetle shares Zo's concerns, and is worried the recovery time may bleed into the regular season.

"Maybe he isn't ready for training camp, but the real question is will he ready for Week 1," wondered Bertrand. "You could possibly have a Week 1 game in Arizona with no Brady and no Edelman."
