Search Continues For Man Suspected Of Killing Professor In Plymouth

BOSTON (CBS) - State Police continue to search for Tyler Hagmaier who is suspected of murdering 76-year-old Vibeke Rasmussen, a science professor at the Plymouth campus of Quincy College.

On Monday, police flew over the the Connecticut River where they believe the 24-year-old murder suspect may have committed suicide, but there were no signs of his body. Police found a car owned by Hagmaier near a bridge in Gill this weekend.

Investigators say Hagmaier was Rasmussen's neighbor and stabbed her more than 35 times.

The I-Team has been looking into Hagmaier's history.

In 2011 in Greenfield, Hagmaier was charged with attempted murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The attempted murder charge was never prosecuted. The assault charge was continued without a finding.

In 2013, Hagmaier was involved in a chase with State Police. When he was arrested, he was charged with assault and battery on a police officer and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
