Brad Marchand Suffers Apparent Injury During IIHF World Championships
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Bruins' season may have ended exactly one month ago, but Brad Marchand has been keeping busy at the IIHF World Championships in Russia for Team Canada.
Or, well, he planned to keep busy, but he appeared to have suffered a setback on Monday.
TSN's Darren Dreger reported that Marchand headed to the bench showing visible frustration after a short shift in the second period.
Marchand then did not take the ice for the third period, per Dreger.
Earlier in the game against Belarus, Marchand took an elbow to the face from an opponent.
Yet CSNNE's Joe Haggerty noted that Marchand has been battling a lower-body issue, so the injury Monday is likely tied to that and not the high hit.
After the game -- which Canada won 8-0 -- Dreger reported that the injury was not related to the high hit and that Team Canada doesn't consider the injury serious at this moment.
Marchand entered Monday's game with two goals in Canada's first two games.
