Barber Shop, SUV Hit By Bullets During Lynn Shootout

LYNN (CBS) – Hours after a stray bullet tore through his barber shop window, Lewis Morales concentrated on his work.

"Feeling good a little shaken up but I'm OK," Morales said through a translator.

A Lynn police officer working a detail nearby called in shots were fired at Washington and Hanover Streets.

Jeannette, who only wanted her first name used, had a front-row seat from the senior living high rise.

"It was a shootout big-time," said Jeannette. "He was shooting up the street and I could see there was two of them up that way."

She said one of the men used a car as a shield. It was mid-afternoon. Police said stray bullets hit a passing car and Morales' barber shop. They were amazed no one was hit. Detectives found at least eight bullet casings.

"The stragglers from school who walk up the sidewalk, I was like, 'Oh my God.' I jumped on the couch, off the couch and into the hall," said Jeannette.

Morales said he couldn't see what happened because he hit the floor just like the 18 people in his shop. He didn't know where the bullets were coming from and didn't know if there would be more. He too could not believe the only damage was to the window.

Police said they did not believe the suspects hit each other. They are looking at surveillance and cell phone video to identify the suspects.
