Toddler Injured After SUV Crashes Into Billerica Day Care

BILLERICA (CBS) – A toddler was injured when an SUV crashed into a Billerica day care Thursday afternoon.

Police say a 38-year-old woman driving a Subaru Outback had a "medical episode" and hit multiple cars before she drove up onto the curb, struck a fence and then crashed into "A Brighter Rainbow" learning center on Boston Road.

The male toddler was pinned under the vehicle, but was alert and conscious when ambulances arrived. Two other children were treated at the scene.

A witness says the vehicle went airborne before it went inside the building and it's "a miracle no one was killed."

The vehicle crashed through the wall and into the main childcare area.

"I couldn't believe what I just saw," said Kathleen Jones, who witnessed the crash. "There was dust and there was broken glass and people screaming."

A bystander helped pull the toddler out from under the vehicle.

Four children were inside at the time. At least three other children were outside.

The accident remains under investigation.
