Bridgewater Police Looking For Party-Goers Who Threw Bottles At Officers

BRIDGEWATER (CBS) -- The Bridgewater Police Department is asking the public for help identifying the people who threw beer bottles and cans at officers responding to a rowdy party.

Officers chased a man into the middle of the lawn party and were arresting him when party-goers allegedly threw full beer cans at them, striking one officer in the head.

"The officer who got hit by the beer can worked for the motorcycle unit so he had his helmet on," Bridgewater Police Lieutenant Tom Schaltz said.

More than 50 people were arrested Saturday during an unsanctioned Springfest celebration by students at Bridgewater State University.

Some of the mayhem included public urination. A cell phone video posted by one person shows a young man jumping from a window onto a folding table amid a crowd of people drinking alcohol.

BSU police apprehended four people who jumped over a fence and ran more than 200 yards on train tracks. The incident forced the MBTA to slow down Commuter Rail trains.

Police are now asking for any pictures or video from the off-campus incident so they can determine who threw beer cans at the officers.
