Report: Claude Julien 'Likely Staying' As Bruins Head Coach, Neely In Trouble

UPDATE:Bruins Bringing Back Head Coach Claude Julien
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Bruins plan to hold a press conference with head coach Claude Julien and general manager Don Sweeney at 10 a.m. Thursday, and part of the presser could include a somewhat surprising announcement: Julien is "likely staying" as Bruins head coach, according to a report by Jimmy Murphy of Dirty Water Media.
Murphy reported Wednesday night that, according to "numerous conversations" with sources close to the situation, Julien could be "safe" but team president Cam Neely "is not." He added that, while anything is far from confirmed, he believes that Neely will "quite possibly be designated to a new role away from hockey operations."
Murphy has also been told that Sweeney is "already hard at work" trying to fix the Bruins' roster issues, mainly their defense, widely considered the team's true downfall in 2015-16. If Julien were to stay on as head coach, he'd be the first Bruins coach since Milt Schmidt in 1966 to survive after the team missed the playoffs for two consecutive seasons.
UPDATE: The Bruins announced Thursday morning that the team will be retaining Claude Julien as head coach. However, they provided no update for the status of team president Cam Neely.
