Mass. Gas Prices Increase For 5th Consecutive Week

BOSTON (AP) — The average cost of a gallon of self-serve, regular gasoline has reached its highest level of the year in Massachusetts.

AAA Northeast reports Monday that prices have risen for the fifth consecutive week to an average of $1.98 per gallon. Prices are now 30 cents higher than they were five weeks ago.

The Massachusetts price remains 8 cents per gallon lower than the national average and is 35 cents lower than it was a year ago.

AAA found self-serve, regular selling for as low as $1.89 and as high as $2.19 per gallon.
