Mass. Medical Society To Host Gun Violence Forum

BOSTON (AP) — The Massachusetts Medical Society is set to host a forum on the public health consequences of firearms.

The public forum on gun violence in Massachusetts will take place Tuesday.

Those attending the forum include Democratic Attorney General Maura Healey, who will talk about efforts to reduce gun violence in the state.

Other presenters include David Hemenway, the director of the Harvard School of Public Health's Harvard Injury Control Research Center, who will talk about unintentional firearm fatality and suicide. David Rosmarin, the director of McLean Hospital's Forensic Psychiatry Service, will talk about evaluating the risks for gun violence in patients.

Other topics will include community-based prevention and discussing guns with patients and parents.

The forum is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Massachusetts Medical Society in Waltham.
