Brothers Allegedly Burglarize Home After Finding Dead Man Inside

BELLINGHAM (CBS/AP) -- Two brothers are facing charges after police say they burglarized a home even after they found the resident dead inside.

Police say Mark Landry, 38, and Steven Landry, 37, broke into the Bellingham home for the first time in January and found the 68-year-old resident's body. Authorities say the man had been dead for weeks.

According to police, the brothers returned several times to steal electronics, medication, copper piping, checkbooks and even a vehicle.

Police were tipped off by someone who says the brothers tried to cash the dead man's checks.

Lawyers for the brothers denied the allegations during the arraignment.

They are being held on $100,000 bail each after pleading not guilty to multiple charges including breaking and entering and larceny.
