Celtics @ 7: Ainge Eyed 'Bigger Package' At Deadline That Included '16 Brooklyn Pick

BOSTON (CBS) – The NBA trade deadline came and went without any movement from the Celtics, but the club's president of basketball operations told "Celtics @ 7" host and WBZ NewsRadio 1030 morning drive sports anchor Adam Kaufman Boston nearly completed a "bigger package" for a player that would have surprised fans, because it was never reported.

Ainge also confirmed the deal would have included the unprotected 2016 Nets draft pick the Celts will inherit this summer.

On Saturday's show on 98.5 The Sports Hub, you can hear Kaufman's entire conversation with Ainge for the first time after snippets hit the airwaves Friday.

The two hit on a number of interesting topics, including the team's approach the deadline, rental players, Ainge's feeling about max contracts, the "mystery team" report, Brad Stevens' future with the Green, and much more.

Kaufman also discussed the Boston Herald report stating Sixers young star Jahlil Okafor was the surprise player in question involved in the uncompleted deal, and whether he is worth parting with the Brooklyn selection. It's far from a no-brainer.
