Phantom Gourmet: Great 8 Restaurants To Warm You Up

When the weather cools down, Phantom needs more than his purple cape to keep from catching a chill. These are the 8 Greatest places to warm up and fill up.

The Waffle Cabin
Multiple Locations

Kicking off the Great 8 is The Waffle Cabin. With locations at ski resorts across New England, The Waffle Cabin's menu is short and very sweet: just waffles served plain or drizzled with chocolate sauce. Each decadent Belgian-style treat has pearls of sugar in the batter so when it hits the waffle iron, the sugar begins to caramelize, making the outside slightly crispy, while leaving the inside light and airy for the perfect way to refuel when you're on the slopes.

Tryst
Arlington

Tryst on Mass Ave in Arlington is the perfect place to warm up, whether you're having tryst or not. Chef Owner Paul Turano has designed a menu with a little bit of everything, from Shrimp Tacos to Sausage Flatbread, to burgers, steaks, and pastas.

Ten-ichi
Natick

Ten-ichi on Route 9 in Natick is a state of the art Asian restaurant has three distinct dining options: Sushi, Dim Sum and warm and steamy Hot Pot. Every table at Ten-ichi features a high-tech induction cooker that gets the hot pot of broth boiling in seconds. It comes with a variety of fresh vegetables and your choice of thinly-sliced meats like short ribs, white meat chicken, or assorted seafood. Then, you use a pair tongs to simply swish the meat around in the piping hot broth, and in a matter of seconds, you're good to go.

No. 8 Kitchen and Spirits
Amesbury

Housed inside an old wool mill along the Powwow River in Amesbury, No. 8 Kitchen and Spirits is one of the North Shore's best spots to hunker down when the weather gets cold. The menu offers a laundry list of comfort foods, like big juicy burgers stacked with house smoked bacon on brioche, to a Banh Mi sandwich with fifteen hour roast pork. But the ultimate indulgence has to be their corn bread, served in a skillet with a melty, maple, pork belly butter.

The Fireplace
Brookline

The Fireplace in Washington Square, Brookline is all about warmth, especially when it's coming off the open flame Grill and stone hearth oven. The menu ranges from juicy burgers, to house-aged steaks, spit-roasted chicken, and much more. And not only is the food comfortable, the atmosphere is too.

Sapporo
Westboro

Another Great 8 winner is Sapporo in Westboro. This Pan Asian eatery offers Chinese appetizers, Japanese sushi and delicious Korean-style BBQ that will fill you up as it warms you up, because you cook it right at your table.

9 Elm American Bistro
Danvers

9 Elm American Bistro in Danvers is a cozy spot where hearty food gets an upscale, hand-made twist. There's slow simmered Rigatoni Bolognese, satisfying Cider Brined Pork Chop, and a super tender filet, topped with melty bleu cheese butter. But the ultimate dish when you need to warm up is 9 Elm's onion soup, full of caramelized sweet onions and plenty of Gruyere cheese.

La Casa de Pedro
Watertown

Rounding out the Great 8 is La Casa de Pedro, where the festive tropical atmosphere and flavorful Latin food will make you forget all about wintery Watertown. There's the massive Pork Osso Bucco infused with poblano chiles, roasted shallots, and a shot of tequila, or the tender, charcoal-grilled all natural flank steak. And fish fanatics can opt for Pedro's fragrant Paella, overflowing with mussels, clams, shrimp, and fried calamari over saffron rice.
