Survey: 23% Of Workers Have Dated Their Superior
BOSTON (CBS) – As Valentine's Day approaches, it turns out many Americans are looking for love in the office.
A new survey of more than 3,000 workers by employment website CareerBuilder found that 37 percent have dated a coworker. About a third of those romances have led to marriage.
Many times, that coworker is a superior, or even the boss.
"Twenty-three percent said they've dated someone in a higher position," CareerBuilder's Michael Erwin tells WBZ NewsRadio 1030. "And when we looked at men vs. women, 26 percent of women said they've dated somebody higher up, compared with only 20 percent of men."
Riskier still, 17 percent says they've dated someone in their office who was married. Not surprisingly, about 45 percent of people said they're not sure if their workplace has a policy on dating coworkers.
And for workplace relationships without romance, about 8 percent say they've partnered with a platonic office spouse.
