The power lines hit the side of the house and started sparking. There were several people inside at the time but everyone got out safely. Several pets had to be rescued.

Firefighters got the blaze under control late Wednesday night but the home is a total loss.

One firefighter was transported but he was conscious and alert.

Downed wires also were to blame for a fire in Swampscott.
