Patriots Fans On Cloud Nine After New England Beats Chiefs In Playoffs

FOXBOROUGH (CBS) -- It was one big celebration inside and outside of Gillette Stadium Saturday night after the New England Patriots beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-20 in the AFC divisional playoff round.

Ecstatic fans poured out of the stadium, dancing to the music of drummers which added to the atmosphere. The fans' reaction said it all.

"Unbelievable! I've never experienced anything like this in my life," says one fan.

"Oh, it was a great game. We loved it," said another fan. "The Patriots are awesome."

Patriots Nation came early for this one, on a mild January afternoon for a big game against the Chiefs.

Once the victory was sealed, cornerback Malcolm Butler accepted congratulations from delighted fans who are on Cloud Nine.

"It's on to the championship game," shouted one fan.

There is also a sense of relief because the team didn't look that great at the end of the regular season, but that's now in the past. One fan says the Patriots had it in hand all along.

"They were playing possum. They were playing possum the last two weeks," said one man.

The Patriots will play the winner of the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers AFC divisional playoff game on Sunday. If the Broncos win, they will host the Patriots, but if the Steelers win, the Patriots will host them in the AFC Championship.
