Bruins, TD Garden Donate $200,000 To Injured Hockey Player Denna Laing

BOSTON (CBS) – The Boston Bruins and TD Garden have made a significant donation to help the professional women's hockey player who suffered a serious spinal cord injury after crashing into the boards during the Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium.

The Jacobs family, Bruins, Boston Bruins Foundation and TD Garden announced on Saturday that they will make a $200,000 donation to the Denna Laing Foundation.

Laing suffered the injury on New Year's Eve while playing at Gillette Stadium and has lengthy rehabilitation ahead.

"Over the past few weeks our organization has gotten to know Denna and her family, and we have all been inspired by their positive attitudes and Denna's fighting spirit," said Charlie Jacobs. "As leaders in the New England hockey community we want to help with Denna's recovery and rehab and this is our first step in what will be continuing support for the Laing family."

On Friday, Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron announced that he donated his personal suite for a raffle that will also benefit Laing.

Anyone wishing to donate to the Denna Laing Foundation can visit www.dennalaing.org.
