Egg Roll Lady & Fish Shack
Worcester

Kicking off the Great 8 is the Egg Roll Lady and Fish Shack in Worcester. This spot may be small in size, but they pump out plate after plate of crunchy fried seafood, crispy Crab Rangoon filled with the good stuff, and their specialty - egg rolls made by hand every day by the world famous Egg Roll Lady herself.

Boston Tavern
West Bridgewater

The Boston Tavern in West Bridgewater doesn't get shy when it comes to food that's fried. There's an all-star appetizer lineup including hand-battered onions rings, golden mozzarella sticks, and plump chicken wings; a Fisherman's Platter packed with scallops, haddock, and a famous fried clam recipe. Then there's the Southern-style Daisy Mae Chicken with country gravy. It's two chicken breasts, dipped in corn flakes and then deep fried.

Chicken Connection
Haverhill, Plaistow

Another Great 8 winner is the Chicken Connection in Haverhill, Massachusetts and Plaistow, New Hampshire. For over 20 years, the Chicken Connection has served up classic American comfort food and real deal, cooked to order, Southern style fried chicken.

The Holy Grail
Epping, NH

Located inside an old church, The Holy Grail in Epping, New Hampshire is a casual Irish pub set in a backdrop that, for some, is a religious experience. When it comes to fried food, there's nothing more sinful than the Scotch Egg- wrapped in sausage, deep fried and served with either Coleman's mustard or a sweet and satisfying apple chutney.

At Paaastelitos in downtown Lynn and Salem, Massachusetts they're folding and frying Dominican paastelitos to order. These satisfying turnovers are filled with everything from ham and cheese, to French toast and sausage, to dessert fillings like the S'mores packed with graham cracker, chocolate and marshmallow. There's even a Chinese-inspired paastelito, packed with boneless ribs and duck sauce, along with an all-American Gobbler featuring turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce.

Walpole

The Red Wing Diner on Route One in Walpole has been serving and stuffing hungry customers with fresh, honest, straight-forward seafood, crispy bar pizzas and indulgent comfort food for over 80 years. Fried clams here are fabulous on their own, but even better as part of the Red Wing's Fisherman's platter- overloaded with whole bellied clams, scallops, shrimp, haddock, fries and ultra-addictive onion rings.

Rounding out the Great 8 is the Red Rock Grill in Upton. This down home dining destination serves upscale spins on comfort food classics, like the piping hot Chicken Pot Pie Eggrolls - a crispy fried appetizer with a surprise in the center.
