A Pair Of Beautiful Winter Days

The arctic cold is on its way out of here. Yesterday's highs only reached the 20s and it was the wind that really added the bite to the air.  This afternoon won't be nearly as chilly as yesterday; after starting in the single digits and teens in many communities we'll rebound quite nicely into the upper 30s and low 40s. There's a ton of dry air in place today too…so dry we won't even be able to develop a cloud! So I hope you have your shades because solar glare will be the only weather related issue to contend with today.

Tomorrow will be another winter beauty. Mostly sunny skies, a light wind and highs in the low to mid 40s will feel pleasant by January standards.

Friday is when things start to get a little interesting.  The pressure gradient between a high to our northeast and a large ocean storm will funnel our wind in from the ocean.  Brief sunshine will be replaced by low level clouds streaming in from the water as early as mid morning. Skies will likely stay overcast through the rest of Friday, holding our temperatures down a bit. There's even a slight risk of a bit of drizzle working in to the picture too. If the temp stays cold enough, especially inland, we may get a touch of freezing drizzle.

Now what about the weekend?  An approaching warm front on Saturday will keep clouds around and a few light showers are possible (not a washout by any means).  We may be able to hang on to enough cold air to see some light freezing rain across the interior which would result in a slick start to the day.  Sunday we punch into the warmth. It looks pretty soggy with periods of rain and highs around 50. That may be a bit conservative too.  The record to beat at Logan Airport on Sunday is 56 degrees…we could make a run at it. We'll pinpoint down timing of wet weather this weekend over the next 24-48 hours. Stay tuned for updates!
