State Police Helicopter Locates Lost Hadley Hiker
HADLEY (CBS) – A State Police helicopter helped locate a woman lost in the woods in Western Massachusetts on New Year's Day.
The 22-year-old woman began hiking in J.A. Skinner Mountain State Park around 1 p.m. and was supposed to meet up with someone later in the day.
But due to darkness, the woman became lost on the trails, police said in a Facebook post that included footage from the helicopter.
Around 8 p.m. the Hadley Police Department requested help from the State Police Air Wing.
By around 9 p.m., troopers used the helicopter's infrared imaging system to find the woman and help firefighters on the ground get to her.
