Powerball Jackpot Soars To Estimated $255 Million
BOSTON (CBS) – Lottery players in New England and around the country are hoping to make this Christmas a lucky one.
The Powerball jackpot has spiked up to $255 million with a cash option for the prize estimated at $158.4 million. The next drawing is Saturday night.
A winner has not been drawn in the contest since November 4. That makes it 14 straight drawings with a top prize winner, according to the Massachusetts Lottery.
The current jackpot is the highest prize offered since a $310 million jackpot on September 30.
Powerball tickets cost $2.
They can be purchased until 9:45 p.m. Saturday. The drawing will take place at 10:59 p.m. that night.
