Community Replaces Holiday Decorations Stolen From Watertown Home

WATERTOWN (CBS) -- The candy cane decorations might appear to sparkle more, and the lights glimmer a little brighter at a home in Watertown.

"Everybody just got together and Watertown strong," said friend Ron Conti.

Thieves stole the original decorations at the house on Linden Street. They struck first a week ago and came back for the rest on Friday.

"I had like an empty feeling. It was empty," said homeowner Annette Clark.

Her story spread and others felt empty too. "I was so upset so upset. The family is awesome," said Conti. "They do a lot and they deserve it," said Ron's wife.

Friends and friends of friends decided to surprise Clark. They bought and gathered donated decorations.

"This afternoon I heard a commotion, and I thought they were taking my Joseph Mary and Jesus," said Clark.

The commotion was not Santa, but pretty close. They were who Clark calls her decorating angels.

"Today when I came out and saw what they were doing I was just overwhelmed, all I did was cry," said Clark.

Ron Conti sheepishly admits he orchestrated the event. He proudly sports what looks like to be an unlikely tattoo for the occasion.

"The Grinch had a heart and it grew and that's me," said Conti

Or perhaps the Grinch tattoo is perfect.

"I love each and every one of you," said Clark.
