Mass. Businesses Ranked Among 'Best Places To Work'

BOSTON (CBS) – There's a new ranking of the best workplaces in America, and some of the top spots are taken by companies headquartered in the Boston area.

Career website Glassdoor says the runner-up on its 2016 list of best large companies to work at is Bain & Company, a global consulting firm based in Boston. Bain was singled out by employees for its "incredibly supportive culture" and focus on mentoring, according to Glassdoor.

Cambridge-based Hubspot, a software marketing company, comes in at No. 4. Reviewers on the website single out the unlimited vacation time and flexible scheduling as a big plus.

In seventh place is the Boston Consulting Group. Glassdoor says this company is praised by employees for intellectually intense and challenging assignments.

Digital delivery service Akamai in Cambridge landed at No. 31.

Taking the top spot among large companies this year is rental website Airbnb. Last year's winner, Google, fell to No. 8.

Four employers in the Bay State are also being recognized as some of the best-reviewed small and medium companies in the nation.

Information technology business CloudLock is third on the list, and called an "all around great company."

Real estate company Berkshire Communities in Boston is ranked at No. 20, followed by information technology business Bullhorn in Boston at 29, and Cambridge-based biotech and pharmaceuticals organization The Broad Institute at 48.
