Dorchester Man Wanted For Murder Of Woman Found In Bridgewater

BOSTON (CBS) -- Officials have issued a warrant for a Dorchester man believed to be responsible for the murder of a 29-year-old New Jersey woman.

Ashley Bortner was found earlier this month in a burning car near the MBTA commuter rail tracks in Bridgewater. Her hands were tied behind her back and to her feet.

Officials named 43-year-old Fernando Owens, the father of Bortner's ex-boyfriend, as a suspect in the murder.

Owens believes Bortner may have played a role in his son's death, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said. His son, Dominic, was murdered the night before Bortner's burned remains were found in Bridgewater on November 3.

Owens is at-large and considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with any information on his whereabout is asked to call State or Bridgewater police.

A New Hampshire couple has already been charged with misleading investigators. Julian Squires and his wife, Shannon, both of Manchester, told police they were with Bortner earlier on November 3 but allegedly lied about where they were later in the day.

Authorities said Tuesday both have been charged with accessory after the fact of murder.
