Smoking Likely Cause Of South Boston Fire, Officials Say

BOSTON (CBS) --  Fire officials say improper disposal of smoking materials likely caused a fire that broke out Sunday evening at a housing complex for the elderly and disabled in South Boston.

The 2-alarm fire was contained to an apartment on the fourth floor of the Monsignor Powers housing complex on L Street.

Two residents were taken to the hospital. One firefighter was treated for cuts to the hand.

The incident remains under investigation.
