Gronk Responds To Chris McCain's #CrushBrady Tweets: 'I Think That Would Be A Penalty'

By Matt Dolloff (@mattdolloff)

BOSTON (CBS) -- Rob Gronkowski has mastered the art of dealing with the media as a Patriots player. He doesn't give any ammunition or bulletin board material for the other team, but he doesn't say absolutely nothing either. His response to the Dolphins' Chris McCain is a perfect example of that,

As you saw on Monday, McCain changed his Twitter avatar to a Photoshop of him crushing Tom Brady's head, using the hashtag #CrushBrady. It's just silly, harmless humor, but odd coming from the second-year linebacker, who may not see the field Thursday and has 5 career tackles. Brady has 9.

Fans predictably roasted McCain for his ill-advised tweets, and he also acted as if he wasn't expecting it to be a big deal.

Reporters asked Gronk about McCain's silliness after practice on Monday, and said "You have to ask Tom. Give Tom that question and he'll probably have a good answer," which garnered some laughs.

He added: "I think that would be a penalty if he does that. If he wants to do that and give us 15 yards, that's fine."

Perfect response! Not going to get in any kind of trouble with Bill Belichick over that, and gave the media (myself included) some amusing quotes to add to their content. He didn't say anything else of note, but sometimes that one golden line is all you need.
