Patriots, Lewis Reportedly Agree To 2-Year Extension

BOSTON (CBS) -- A stellar start to the season has reportedly earned Patriots running back Dion Lewis a contract extension.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, Lewis has agreed to a two-year contract extension with New England.

Lewis has been one of the most productive backs in the NFL to start the season, rushing for 146 yards and two touchdowns. He's also been a factor in the passing offense, catching 15 passes for 179 yards.

Lewis, 25, was out of football for all of the 2014 season but won a spot in New England's backfield following an impressive training camp and preseason. According to Yates, Lewis' extension includes a $600,000 signing bonus and base salaries of $800,000 in 2016 and $1.2 million in 2017. He can earn up to $1.8 million in incentives when the deal kicks in.

Given Lewis will be in New England for the next couple of seasons, maybe Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan will finally learn his name.
