Bruins Predictions Roundup: Modest Expectations On B's Heading Into 2015-16 Season

BOSTON (CBS) -- The puck is dropping on the 2015-16 NHL season, which means one thing: an avalanche of predictions.

While nobody in the world -- especially not a hockey analyst -- owns a properly functioning crystal ball, the predictions are nevertheless a good indicator of what hockey analysts are expecting from a given team.

And given that the Bruins are coming off a disappointing season that ended without a playoff berth, opinions certainly vary on what to expect this season.

Puck Daddy

Yahoo's blog ran predictions from seven editors and writers, and all seven predict the Bruins to be a playoff team. Columnist Ryan Lambert was the lone writer to predict the Bruins to win the Atlantic Division.

Of the nine analysts, zero predict that the Bruins will win the Atlantic Division.

Of the 10 "experts," zero predict that the Bruins will win the Atlantic Division.

The four analysts predicted the playoff field, with two believing the Bruins will qualify for the postseason and two believing the Bruins will miss the playoffs for a second straight year. Sarah Kwak lists David Pastrnak as her "Breakout Player" candidate.

Five writers predicted division winners, and none believe the Bruins will win the Atlantic. All five picked the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The staff predicted the Bruins to finish sixth in the Atlantic Division, far out of a playoff spot.

SportsNet

Of the 16 analysts weighing in, zero predicted the Bruins to make it to the Stanley Cup Final. Scott Morrison predicted the Bruins to be the team that disappoints the most. Christine Simpson, Luke Fox and Brad Fay listed Claude Julien as the coach with the hottest seat.

TSN

Scott Cullen handled TSN's predictions, saying the Bruins will make the postseason, securing the final spot out of the Atlantic Division.
