SHELBURNE (CBS) -- A woman died after her vehicle was struck by an alleged drunk driver in a hit-and-run on Route 2 in Shelburne on Friday afternoon.

State Police were called to the scene around 3:40 p.m. after receiving a report about a three-vehicle crash. Shelburne police officers, firefighters and EMS, Buckland police and troopers from Franklin County District Attorney's Office also responded.

Investigators say Wyatt Pease, 20, of Buckland, was driving his 1994 Nissan Altima at a high rate of speed on Route 2 West before rear-ending a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, pushing the car into the eastbound lane where it was struck by a 2004 Honda Odyssey.

The driver of the Pontiac, 51-year-old Sarah Sessions of Heath, was rushed to Baystate Franklin Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The 64-year-old Shelburne woman driving the Honda suffered serious injuries and was also taken to the Greenfield medical center.

After fleeing the scene, police say they found Pease and arrested him. He has been charged with motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of a crash involving personal injury or death, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, speeding and following too closely.

Pease, who was not hurt in the crash, was held on $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Greenfield District Court on Monday.
