Bernie Sanders Makes Campaign Swing Through Massachusetts

BOSTON (CBS/AP) — Bernie Sanders made a campaign swing through Massachusetts on Saturday.

Sanders spoke to supporters at an afternoon rally at the MassMutual Center in Springfield before heading to a 6 p.m. rally at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Thousands attended his convention center rally, as he spoke for more than an hour.

Campaign officials said the Democratic presidential hopeful planned to discuss the criminal justice system, campaign finance changes, his legislation targeting high prescription drug costs and his college affordability plan.

The Vermont senator has made income and wealth inequality a key theme in his campaign.

On Thursday, fellow Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton visited Boston for a public forum on substance abuse.

The former senator and secretary of state said treatment for drug and alcohol addiction should be on a par with diabetes, cancer, heart disease and other medical conditions.
