Tom Brady Throws Career Touchdown No. 400

BOSTON (CBS) -- Tom Brady has reached another milestone in his Hall of Fame career.

Brady became just the fourth quarterback in NFL history to reach the 400 touchdown mark in his career on Sunday, connecting with Danny Amendola late in the second quarter of New England's 51-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Brady joins Peyton Manning (533), Brett Favre (508) and Dan Marino (420) as the only quarterbacks in the NFL's 400 club.

"I've been a part of so many great teams, played with so many great players," a humble Brady said after going 33-of-42 for 358 yards and a pair of touchdowns. "I don't care if we run it in or throw it in, if we're scoring points and winning that's all that matters to me."

After Amendola came down with the touchdown, which gave New England a 20-3 lead at the time, he gave the ball to a fan in the stands. It was retrieved by the Patriots during the game, but Brady had a laugh when asked what he was thinking when he saw Amendola handing it off.

"Danny can do whatever he wants with it," he said with a smile. "He made a great catch."

Amendola said he didn't realize he had given away the 400 ball until he made his way to the sidelines.

"We got it back and he got it," said a relieved Amendola in the New England locker room. "Tom is such a great player. Just to have one of those 400 is pretty cool."

"I guess he'll have to go to 500," tight end Rob Gronkowski joked after the win.

With a second-half touchdown pass to rookie Keyshawn Martin, Brady is now up to 401 touchdown passes for his career. His first touchdown pass came back on October 14, 2001, his third career start after taking over for the injured Drew Bledsoe. It was a 21-yard score to Terry Glenn against the San Diego Chargers at Foxboro Stadium, and another touchdown pass to tight end Jermaine Wiggins later in the contest helped lead the Patriots to a 29-26 victory.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski has caught the most touchdown passes from Brady with 57. Randy Moss is second on the list with 39 touchdowns from Brady.

Brady also has another 53 touchdown passes in 29 career playoff games.
