Rex Ryan On Dion Lewis: 'I Still Don't Know His Name'

BOSTON (CBS) -- Rex Ryan hates Dion Lewis.

Or at least ... that's the impression the Bills head coach has made regarding the Patriots' new running back. Earlier this week, Ryan said he didn't know Lewis' name, a comment that raised some eyebrows in New England for possibly providing some bulletin-board material to the Patriots.

And on Sunday, Lewis put together an impressive performance, catching six passes for 98 yards and rushing seven times for 40 yards and a touchdown. Lewis made a 40-yard catch up the left sideline toward the end of the first half, and he drew a critical pass interference penalty on Buffalo up the right sideline in the fourth quarter. Lewis showed some extra oomph on his touchdown run, lowering his shoulder and trucking cornerback Stephon Gilmore en route to crossing the goal line.

Just about anyone would say that Lewis played a big role in the Patriots' 40-32 win. Yet after the game, Ryan was asked about his Dion Lewis comment, and the coach was not happy to hear the question.

"Oh, that's the reason we lost," the perturbed coach said sarcastically. "Go ahead, I still don't know his name. Next time run the ball. Next."

Jeez. Seems quite stubborn after the 24-year-old had an undeniably impressive performance on Sunday.

The Patriots and Bills meet again for Monday Night Football in Week 11 in Foxboro. We'll see if Rex has learned Dion's name by then.
