'On Demand' Hangover Treatment Company Coming To Boston

BOSTON (CBS) – A company that claims it can deliver a nearly instant hangover cure to your home or office is planning to begin serving people in Boston this fall.

The I.V. Doc already serves several cities in the country, bringing intravenous fluids to customers who need to get on with their day rather than dealing with hangovers, jet lag, dehydration or illness.

Rochelle Minda, the company's COO, told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 that the luxury service is performed by trained professionals.

Customers can call to request IV service at their home, hotel, or office, and the "on demand" cure is brought to them.

"We go to you," said Minda.

"These IV treatments make people feel better right away."

Dr. Lipi Roy, a staff physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 there is no known hangover cure.

"I don't see any data in the research or in the literature that shows that IV fluids are treatment, legitimate evidence-based treatment, for hangovers. I have not seen that data," she said.

"What we recommend, for people who do choose to drink, is to really pace themselves and to alternate an alcoholic beverage with water."

Minda said their customers range in age from 24-to-44 years old, and are young business professionals who are looking to get back to their day quickly rather than dealing with illness.

"We do treat hangovers, but we have a lot of people who call for other reasons as well," Minda said.

"We have high hopes for Boston. Young business students that need to get back to studying or are in law school. So hopefully it will be a good market for us."

According to the company's website, costs for IV treatments range from $150-$400 apiece.

The I.V. Doc plans to open in Boston at the beginning of October.
