Uber Window Shattered In Apparent BB Gun Road Rage Attack

ARLINGTON (CBS) – An Uber driver was caught in a case of road rage he didn't instigate when he picked up three passengers in Cambridge.

The driver, Guital, says the passengers started taunting another car when he stopped at three different lights on Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington.

"They start using bad language against them.  I told them they can't do that in my car, I don't allow anyone to do that," he tells WBZ-TV.

But he says they didn't stop and when the other car pulled up behind him he heard the sound.

"At first I hear the window crack, and the second one I hear it."

His rear window shattering as bb's or pellets were fired at the car.  He says the bullet initially pierced the frame and stopped there.

"If it wasn't for that I wouldn't be here," he said.

Guital said he made a quick U-turn to get away and when he stopped to call 9-1-1 the car was back, this time firing but missing through the driver's window.

"I see my life, that's my last day, that's my last day," he said.

It was his last run of the night, and one he says that nearly cost him his life.  But the Haitian native is determined it won't keep him from doing a job he likes.

"For me, where I'm from, we're not scared of anything.  I've got a family, I live for my family and that's the reason I'm here today," he said.

Arlington police chief Frederick Ryan says it was "reckless behavior that could have resulted in serious injuries to the driver and his passengers, along with other operators on the road."

The suspect's vehicle is described as a blue colored jeep.
