25 Photos That Sum Up The 2015 Boston Red Sox

BOSTON (CBS) -- For the third time in the last four years, the Red Sox are heading for a last place finish.

We really don't need to put into words just how bad the Red Sox have been this season, because most of it has already been said, over and over and over and over again. We could go on for hours and hours on how bad the starting pitching has been (with their 4.72 ERA), how bad the mental miscues have been (forgetting how many outs in an inning SIX times) and how bad Hanley Ramirez has been at just about everything except for hitting home runs.

But instead, we'll let our friends at Getty Images tell the story in photos (with a few wiseacre comments mixed in).

Here are 25 photos that pretty much sum up the 2015 Boston Red Sox. We'll start with the positives, and then we hope you enjoy some laughs along the way:

A New Hope

At this point in the season, there was still some hope for the team and this could have been a good jumping off point for the team. We were wrong though.... terribly, terribly wrong. A Rotation Of Horrors

The Red Sox traded for Rick Porcello in the offseason, hoping he could turn into an ace. That hasn't happened though, with Porcello's ERA one of the worst among Major League starters. (Photo by Maddie Meyer/Getty Images)

Clay Buchholz went 5-1 with a 2.03 ERA starting June 1, but once again landed on the disabled list. He has yet to throw a baseball since leaving his July 10 start against the Yankees. (Photo by Jim Rogash/Getty Images)

Rookie southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez went 2-0 with a 0.44 ERA in the first three starts of career, but has since struggled to be consistent. He has a 4.76 ERA over the last two months, allowing an average of one homer per game. (Photo by Rich Schultz/Getty Images)

Frustration At Its Best

John Farrell has had plenty to be upset about this season. He was ejected three times, and was the first manager to get the boot for arguing video replay. We wish the Boston skipper the best as he is undergoes treatment for Stage 1 Lymphoma. (Photo by Mike Zarrilli/Getty Images)

Mookie Betts makes a catch against the White Sox as he goes over the bullpen wall in late July, but he dropped it when he hit the ground and it was ruled a homer. It was one of the stranger plays of the season, and pretty much sums up the 2015 Boston Red SOx. (Photo by Jim Rogash/Getty Images)

Koji Uehara was a bright spot, with 25 saves at the age of 40, but his season ended early with a fracture in his wrist. At least he got the team to sign his cast though. (Photo by Rich Gagnon/Getty Images)

The Hanley Ramirez Section

The Red Sox as a team had a knack for running into outs on the base paths this season, so it's hard to pin it on just Ramirez. But here, you can see he was out by a mile. (Photo by Rich Gagnon/Getty Images)
