Harsh Winter Leaves Students With Shorter Summer Vacations

WEYMOUTH (CBS) -- It may be the heat of the summer, but all the snow we had last winter is still having its effect.

Kids in Weymouth are finishing their shortest summer vacation ever – they didn't get out until June 30 and school starts for them Sept. 2.

Adults like it, kids not so much.

"It was really bad because of how short it was and I don't get why there was so much snow days," said 11-year-old Jaiyce, who is going into fifth grade. "And I don't get the fact that we have to go back September 2."

Many students agree that it just went by too quick.

"I felt I didn't get to express myself this summer, I didn't have enough time," said one tenth-grader.

Other schools like Abington start even earlier, on Sept. 1.
