Salem, NH Police Officer Shoots At Man Accused Of Threatening Worker
SALEM, N.H. (CBS/AP) — Police in Salem say an officer shot at but didn't hit a Nashua man who threatened a utility worker trying to shut off his electricity.
The incident happened Tuesday morning when Liberty Utilities sent an employee to shut off the power at a business.
The worker arrived to find a man carrying a handgun who said he'd "do what he had to do to keep the power on."
As police arrived, they saw a man leaving the building and walking away from them.
Police say the man ignored commands to stop and show his hands, and then turned quickly with his hand in a shooting gesture.
A Salem officer then fired one round, but did not strike the man, who was then taken into custody.
Raymond Shawdee, 31, faces charges of criminal threatening and reckless conduct. His bail was set at $5,000 cash.
