Woman Dies In Dedham House Fire

DEDHAM (CBS) – A woman was killed and several others were injured in a Dedham fire early Saturday morning.

Police say 52-year-old Lynne O'Brien died when the blaze ripped through her top floor home on Harding Terrace.

Neighbors called 911 around 5:30 a.m. to report the fire.

"We were like sisters," neighbor Laurlee Davis said of O'Brien. "She was just over my house last night, that's why I can't believe it. We left her at midnight and five hours later the house is on fire. It just doesn' t make sense."

Davis says Lynne owned the home and rented out the downstaris. three people including Lynne were inside the house when the fire broke out.

Firefighters were on scene quickly and found that two residents who escaped the house had suffered minor injuries.

O'Brien was removed from the home and taken to Norwood Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Davis went into the home to retrieve whatever memories she could gather from her friend.

"I was looking for her angel pin and we found it," Davis said. "it actually belonged to her grandmother."

Three firefighters were treated for minor injuries, including a knee injury and heat exhaustion.

Preliminary investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office indicates that the cause of the fire was accidental caused by an electrical issue.
