Additional Human Remains Found In Stoughton

STOUGHTON (CBS) – Investigators were back at the scene on Simpson Road in Stoughton Friday, unearthing more human remains in the area where a human bone was found on a trail on Thursday.

Access was restricted as a line of police cars, hazardous materials teams and trail riders were seen driving in and out the remote area that was once farm land.

It was an unsettling sight for neighbors like David Croft.

"It's a matter of who they are, what condition, and how they died. That's concerning," he told WBZ-TV.

A spokesman for the Norfolk District Attorney would only say "a significant concentration of remains" were found.

They've now been sent to the state medical examiner for further examination and identification.

Yakaterina Laskovin wonders if the remains could be those of her brother, Ilya.

The 22-year-old walked away from the family home, near the search site, back in November 2009.

She says he left with no money or cellphone.

"If it's him, at least I'll know what happened, but I hope it's not him," Laskovin said.

Investigators say they're not yet making any connection with unsolved cases, or even suggesting foul play.

It only heightens the mystery for nearby residents like Patrick Shaughnessy.

"This isn't like it's nobody's business down there, because it's everybody's business down there," he says.

Laskovin knows little of the search near her home, but now awaits the outcome.  "I believe in God, I'm not completely without hope."
